Top 5 Personal Growth Books you Should Read

IMG_0217.jpg

One of my favorite types of books to read are self-improvement books because I feel like I’m being productive and learning so much about myself at the same time. Win-win! Sometimes while reading a fiction book I find myself thinking about what else I should be doing instead and don’t always make it to the end. There are so many books today on personal growth and it can be hard to tell from the shelf from which ones you will benefit the most from. Which is why I made a list of the top 5 self-improvement books that I learned a lot from and truly enjoyed. This list is not in any particular order.

The Self Love Experiment—Shannon Kaiser

This book title is self-explanatory for the most part.It explains that almost any goal or result you want to achieve starts with self-love. In order to be at peace with your life and truly enjoy it you first need to accept and love yourself. The author Shanna Kaiser teaches this lesson through her own personal self-love experiment. She is also the author of other bestselling books and an inspiration speaker. This book taught me the principles of self-love that I sometimes go back to and remind myself.

Girl, Wash your Face—Rachel Hollis

If you’re looking for a book that will give you a kick in the pants when it comes to quitting the excuses you make for yourself while also making you laugh, Girl Wash your Face is exactly that. It is eye opening to realize how often we let ourselves off the hook because we’re afraid or doubtful. Rachel Hollis is an inspiring author and role model who tells us what we sometimes need to hear. If you have already read this book and enjoyed it as much as I did, I also encourage you to check out her podcast, RISE.

The Happiness Project—Gretchen Rubin

The Happiness Project was an experiment that Gretchen Rubin tried in her very own life. Through her research, she was able to generate a list of things that are proven to make people live happier lives. From there, the project began. Now this is a book that I have read a handful of times because each time it gives me the motivation and reminder that sometimes I need a reset. Not only did I learn a lot from Gretchen’s experience, but it has inspired me to work on my own personal happiness project…and the results thus far have been inspiring.

Daring Greatly—Brené Brown

Daring Greatly is all about having the courage to be able to be vulnerable and still show up in the world unafraid. This book gives insight and advice on how to deal with and change your fear of being vulnerable. Brené Brown is a researcher, speaker, and author on courage, shame, and vulnerability. She also has a documentary film called The Call to Courage that can be found on Netflix. I found it oddly relatable and also hilarious at the same time.

You are a Badass—Jen Sincero

You are a Badass is a book about how to finally get out of your own way to live the life you want! Sometimes the hardest thing to let go of is the opinion of others but it is something that can make one of the biggest differences in how you live your life. Jen Sincero also has two other books in this subject relating to every day life and money. What I really gained and took away from this book was to appreciate the person that I am rather than trying to be someone I’m not in order to please others. If you are looking for a super motivational book to finally jumpstart living an unapologetic life then this is the book that you need to read.
